The City of Scranton is Pennsylvania's seventh largest city geographically nestled in the Lackawanna River valley. Historically inhabited by the native Lenape tribe, anthracite coal miners and the innovators of iron and steel, Scranton experienced a surge in both historic and modern revitalization in the mid- 1980's. The city currently boasts a wide variety of architecture, natural parks, entertainment venues, museums, and ski resorts. Scranton, nicknamed "The Electric City," has been a featured landmark throughout pop culture, ranging from the 1855 George Inness painting, Lackwanna Valley to today's NBC's Emmy-award winning sitcom The Office.
